Fleet Week NYC 2024

Fleet Week New York is an annual tradition that honors the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, providing the public with a unique opportunity to interact with service members and learn about today’s sea services. The event has been held nearly every year since 1984 and is known for its wide array of free public events.

The main highlights typically include the “Parade of Ships,” where participating vessels sail into New York Harbor, as well as public ship tours at various piers.

The 36th annual celebration, took place from May 22 to May 28, 2024, over Memorial Day weekend. A total of 11 ships participated, including vessels from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and the German Navy.

Participating Ships and Piers:

Last year, a total of 11 ships participated, including vessels from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and the German Navy. The ships were berthed at several locations:

  • Manhattan (Pier 88 and 90):
    • Amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) from Norfolk, Virginia.
    • Baden-Württemberg-class frigate FGS Baden-Württemberg (F-222) from Germany.
    • Berlin-class replenishment ship FGS Frankfurt am Main (A-1412) from Germany.
  • Manhattan (Intrepid Museum, Pier 86):
    • Four U.S. Naval Academy Yard Patrol boats (YPs).
    • Bay-class cutter USCGC Sturgeon Bay (WTGB-109) from Bayonne, New Jersey.

Parade of Ships sailed past the Statue of Liberty and up the Hudson River.

Military bands, including Navy Band Northeast and the U.S. Fleet Forces Rock Band, held free public concerts in various locations like Times Square and outdoor of the Intrepid Museum which is a military and maritime history museum.
